At Stof 49 we have our own HETAS installation team and surveyors. We can deal with the whole process from home survey, arranging for the stove installation and any building works required. We supply all the flue. If you don't have an existing fireplace, we can discuss free standing options. Our job is to make your life easier. We have been making and installing Chilli Penguin Stoves for 16 years. We know these stoves inside out because we design and make them. We have them in our own homes, and there is nobody who knows these stoves better.

A survey involves a home visit. This will normally take approximately half an hour. Your surveyor will look at your existing fireplace and your chimney . If you don't have an existing fireplace your surveyor will discuss options with you for a free standing installation. They will be looking at:
kW output required for size of room.
Distances from combustibles and non-combustibles for both the stove and the flue system.
The condition of the chimney stack.
The size of the fireplace opening.
Hearth and mantle requirements.
The room ventilation.
Access to property for work to commence.
They will be very happy to answer any of your questions and discuss possible options. Following the survey they will prepare a quotation for the recommended work.
There is a huge variation in what will be required for each individual job. Work can take between 1-3 days. The simplest job will involve the installation of the flue liner, fitting of the register plate and installing the stove on an existing hearth. Alternatively, you may be considering installing a factory made metal chimney system for a free standing stove installation, including laying a new hearth. You might also need to resize the fireplace opening in the chimney breast. In which case they will be able to do the building work, fit hearth, mantle or fire surround, re-line the fireplace recess and re-plaster ready for decoration.
At the end of the installation, a smoke test will be carried out, and the stove and installation will be fully commissioned (tested). They will be happy to go through the process of lighting your first fire, including curing the painted surface and using the air controls. You will be left with an instruction manual, gloves and a tool. In addition they will leave a complimentary sample box of dry fuel and a feedback card. You will be issued with a HETAS certificate. Our team are always available if you have any questions.
Should you wish to send us any images of your new stove installation, we would love to see them and we also welcome any feedback. We want you to be completely happy with every step of this process and fall in love with your new penguin.
